Handicap International launched Online course on Physical Rehabilitation

Report by India Education bureau, Bhubaneswar: Handicap International, an International civil society organisation working for the persons with disability today launched an online course on Physical Rehabilitation, which is unique in South Asia, meant for the experts in the field of disability and rehabilitation. To complement online teaching, these Face to Face (FTF) teaching modules have been planned in India.

Workshop For PWDs Held At Axim

A two-day sensitisation workshop for people with disability has been held at Axim, the Nzema East Municipal capital.

It was organized by the Municipal Disability Fund Management Committee and attended by 120 participants from the municipality.

Topics discussed included the rights of the disabled, how to access their two per cent portion of the Common Fund, areas of the utilisation of the fund, work of the fund and work of the fund management committee.

Macklin hints at more NDIS cash next year

THERE will be more cash for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in next year's budget, amid estimates that $4 to $5 billion is needed to transition from trial sites to a full rollout.

The scheme is expected to cost around $15 billion a year to run when fully implemented in 2018/19. So far, the Labor government has set aside $1 billion to fund launch sites for the scheme but future funding commitments fall outside the four-year budget estimates period.

The Malta Federation of Organisations Persons with Disability (MFOPD) would like to join others in welcoming the long-awaited ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability (UNCRPD) and its Optional Protocol by the Maltese Parliament. The ratification took place on October 10.

Unfortunately, very little publicity has been given to the event by the media, perhaps because of the ongoing political controversies and mishaps. In fact very few locals, including policy makers, are aware of the convention’s contents and implications.
